Reuben and his team at Viking Homes renovated our 1920’s bungalow in Mt Eden in 2020. They were great to work with, taking us through all aspects of the build initially and keeping us up to date on the progress and any changes required throughout. We found Reuben to be a very open, honest and trustworthy guy, and his clear communication really helped us to enjoy the building process. As with most renovations we encountered a number of challenges throughout the build, but the Viking team were passionate, hardworking and solution focused, and we always felt that they had our best interests at heart. My new build was completed within the expected timeframe, and to an incredibly high standard. I had excellent builders on this job - there were multiple builds happening on my street at the same time, and Viking Homes were always first to arrive, last to pack up, and worked hard around the clock. Great guys too, very friendly.. professional but love a laugh. Jenny was great at managing the office admin, and all invoices were clear and concise during the build. Really appreciated regular budget checks that showed how costs were tracking throughout the build process. If you are considering building a new home or modifications to an existing residence, I would recommend you consider Viking Homes. My wife and I have recently completed the construction of a minor dwelling on a small, inner city land parcel. The building is architecturally designed with a focus on indoor / outdoor living, good natural light all day and finished to a high standard. We issued an enquiry to four builders and Viking’s price was mid-range. We decided to enter into a contract with Reuben for a number of reasons: he was very helpful in discussing buildability issues and areas where cost could be taken out; his company had also successfully completed a number of jobs nearby. We were more than happy with the outcome: the building was complete in four months from ground work commencing, all the Viking subcontractors cycled through the job with no delays. There were a number of variations on the job; the only large one being excavations were more extensive than originally planned however the rest were issues that you would expect during a new build and were dealt with promptly and fairly. Vikings claims were comprehensive and easily understood. We now have a very liveable home and would recommend you consider Viking as a contractor if you intend to build.

We engaged Viking Homes in 2019 and the team to renovate our house, which involved lifting the existing house, extensive remodelling of the existing floor plan and adding a new floor below the lifted/excavated area created.

We are extremely happy with the finished product and the journey we shared with Viking Homes.  Through the whole project we built up a rapport with Reuben and the team.  We built up a great relationship with all involved and feel they are now part of our extended family.  Communication was great throughout the project.  We knew what was going on, where we were at and when things were needed from us.

The team are hardworking, honest and true craftsmen,  which Scott experienced first hand being on site every day.  Reuben, Jenny, Fergus, Mike and the team are easy to work in with and no conversation is too hard a conversation to have.  Opinions/guidance on the build were discussed for any issues that may arise, providing a recommendation of the best way forward. 

 The team maintained a clean and safe worksite during demolition and the build, which was critical in managing access to the site and minimising impacts on our shared driveway.

 We have no reservations in recommending Viking Homes and the Team to anyone who is thinking of renovating their family home.

Most people are both nervous and excited about starting a home build or renovation project. It is important to choose the right team to bring your vision to life. I bought my house knowing it would need a big overhaul before it could be my home for the future. I had a vision in mind of what I wanted to achieve for a beautiful home that suited my needs. Last year we began our dream project!!!  To relocate the 1922 Villa and build on the extension.

Viking Homes have just finished an extensive restoration of our 1940 villa in Mairangi Bay. The work included restoring/replacing fixtures both inside and out. Also carried out was the complete replacement of the roofs and some of the roof structure . I cannot speak highly enough of the Viking Homes staff, both for the top standard of work carried out and for their professional attitude and reliability. I am absolutely thrilled with the end result and have no hesitancy in thoroughly recommending them to future customers.

Reuben and the team at Viking Homes project managed everything to do with our new house build and they were absolutely awesome to work with. They were there every step of the way, from recommending architects to the final sign off, which we passed first go! Viking Homes was recommended to us by our architect Darren Gubb (www.gubbdesign.co.nz), as an emerging builder getting excellent feedback on several high spec jobs. From the start, Viking quickly earnt our respect and trust. They became the obvious choice to help us with our 90m2, two level extension and total overhaul of the rest of our 180m2, 1970s home; a challenging blend of old with new.

As absolute novices in building with very busy lives, we needed a lot of support with every decision of the build. Viking worked with us to help us understand all aspects of the extensive project and to guide us through the options for each decision. They incorporated this into a highly detailed, and ultimately very accurate, budget estimate that we then managed on an actual charge-out basis. This worked extremely well for us as we had great flexibility to make sure we ended up with exactly what we wanted, within budget. Viking gave us regular updates on spend vs the estimate and what remained. This really helped us manage our budget and prioritise the things most important to us. Knowing what position we were in financially at all times removed much of the worry and stress from the process. In the end, this enabled us to get a lot more out of the project than we had first imagined, and we were bang on budget!

The Viking crew came to feel like part of our extended family as we all worked together to build our dream home. They were excellent with our two young and ‘adventurous’ boys, and kept them safe while we lived on-site for the first few months of the build. They were polite to everyone, very tidy and considerate, and had an extremely high attention to detail and positive approach to finding solutions to meet our needs. They always made time to talk things through and appease my control-freakish tendencies.

We now have a beautiful home that feels brand new and is exactly right for us. We are so happy with the result and the process we went through with Viking, and would highly recommend them anyone wanting to build a house that they love.

I recently asked Viking Homes to partially re-clad my house – it had Harditex above and under all the windows and doors and was deemed by the Council as a “leaky home”.

 I am extremely happy with the result – the house looks brand new! I had a foreman and his apprentice at my house most days for several months. They were brilliant! Fitted in with the family with no problems; they were polite, helpful and always happy to explain what was going on, to make suggestions (especially re the chocolate chip muffins 😊) and they were superb workmen. I have absolutely no complaints about them.

 The communication was excellent – from everyone: builders, bosses and the very special office lady. I always knew what was going on, what was going to happen and more importantly how much it was going to cost.

 I would certainly recommend Viking Homes to anyone who was thinking of building or renovating. The values of the people working for them, and the owners themselves, are the old-fashioned sort – honest, get the job done with superb craftsmanship and no mucking around on the job.
